Green Mountain Knitting Bags

January 7

Greetings! Well, my sister and I moved our mom. Wendy arrived a day early from Maine to beat the storm, and it's a good thing she did. Both Maine & Vermont got it... hard. We treated ourselves to the movie Avatar before our hard work began and loved it! Paul and Taylor joined us too and all of us had a blast. The move went well but needless to say it was exhausting, both physically and emotionally. (Yikes, I still have to unload my car) But mom is doing well and is doing her best to be positive. Knowing she's getting the care she needs is a relief for us, and for her too.

I didn't get much knitting done, but worked a bit on some fun little arm warmers called 'toast'. Pics next week.

A warm welcome to the many who are new to the site. The response from Vogue Knitting has been huge and I'm thrilled! See the featured bags among tonight's listings.

I wanted to share with you all something I read in my new datebook for the year.... Birch. The Celtic Tree Calendar is a lunar one based upon the Celtic Ogham letters and their correspondences. Birch corresponds with the Ogham letter beth (beeth), which speaks of new beginnings, fresh starts and growth. So, we begin 2010 under the blessings of the birch tree, one of the first trees that appear on bare soil after land has been cleared. It's a lovely warm and nurturing wood. I love that my handles are birch, and am glad to have so many growing close to me.

I thought I'd share my knitting from 2009 :) Have fun looking! If I think of it I can link to the patterns on next's weeks News Page. Honestly, it was all I could do to get ready for tonight, what a week! I look forward to being able to focus fully on my work once again, and can't wait to get back to my yoga routine as well... which will begin tomorrow morning. Hopefully this weekend will include some snowshoeing too. I'm a bit behind in my correspondence but will do my best to catch up.... Okay, that's it. Don't forget to fill those lungs deeply.... and knit on good women,

Warmly,
Martha.
