August 26

Greetings! Is August almost over already? Not surprising really, the way it feels right now... gusty and cool. On Sunday though it's supposed to reach in the high 80's... maybe into the 90's! Ahhh, Vermont. But I hopped on my bike yesterday late afternoon and quickly turned around to go back for my camera, everything was so lush and beautiful in the afternoon light. Near the pond is a field of Queen Anne's Lace and all I could think of was, 'this must be where fairies live'.....

I continued with more custom work on Monday. I was sent a pair of antique Asian handles with inlaid mother of pearl. Usually I don't do that type of thing but so liked the idea of putting them to use again. The fabric was up to me, a neutral with an Asian feel .... and even though the bag look twice as long as any other, I was very pleased with the outcome.

I'm lucky enough to have a friend on Ravelry who does beautiful dyeing and we were chatting about favorite old TV shows and I brought up I Dream of Jeanie. :D We're both experimenting with plaids/argyles (in the KAL) and the thought of something done in 'Jeanie' yarn appealed to us both. She dyed me a skein and she sure nailed it! Pink, red, blue and purple, I can't wait to play with it! (I SO wanted to live in that purple bottle!)

Great colors, great names!
I didn't get as far with my mittens as I'd hoped, but I will. I wanted to show you my favorite ever mitten book.... it's an oldie for sure. They show up from time to time on Ebay. I picked up the latest issue of Vogue Knitting and instantly fell in love with the sweater on page 93. I splurged on Madeline Tosh Pashmina and love it! It's such a dream to work with and the colors are amazing....
I never did make the cucumber relish... we've been steadily eating them! If I get another bag then I think relish will be in order.
Running late tonight, got to run!

Enjoy tonight's bags... I sure did! Thanks good women..... and let's knit on!

Martha.

PS: I thought you might like to read a review I received this week. It's from a great customer who purchase the 'Yet to be named bag' with the additional pockets.....

Good Afternoon Martha,

I just wanted to let you know how much I love this new bag. First off the size is perfect, I'm making a large granny square blanket right now and this bag is a perfect fit. I love the pattern pocket and the additional pockets are wonderful. This is the perfect knitting/everyday bag for me. I thought initially that the pockets on both sides wouldn't allow for much room inside but I was so wrong, the extra pockets allow me to put so many things in the bag and out of the way, it's fabulous!!! I also put my Lil' Yarn Sack in there and it's of course perfect!! What you can't see in that picture is under my blanket I have two large (355 yard) rolls of yarn!
Well back to my rambunctious 2 year old and 12 dogs!!! ( 9 are puppies but they keep me running! not to mention my son!!! ha ha)

Oh and by the way I went over to Jill Drapers etsy site and snatched up some of her beautiful yarn!!! I wanted to show you the gorgeous scarf I made, of course pictures just do not do it justice!!
