August 19
Greetings! It was another quick week! Another custom order went out and a few more are lined up. It's been cool at night, but great for sleeping. We've been enjoying lots of local produce.. as in up the road produce, cucumbers especially. We were given so many that this weekend I might do some canning, relish I think. So nice in the dead of winter to have it with a meal and to try and remember something of summer time....
I picked up a new (old) table at an antique shop for my photo taking, and had to smile when I got it home and noticed it once lived at UVM :)
I completed another row of my afghan I'm doing out of Noro Silk Garden and Lamb's Pride worsted.... yes, ends sewn is as I go! I make that promise to myself! I love how it's coming out, and deciding on color placement is so much fun. It'll be 7 squares across and 9 down... then I'll add a boarder in the red and I'm thinking of incorporating charcoal in there somewhere.
I love the new yarn I showed you last week so much so that I ordered another skein. Because it's variegated I didn't want to do lace or cables as they 'd both get lost, so decided on some simple and fun four needle mittens. One hand is complete and the second is on the way and I'll do the thumbs one after the other. I love working on mittens this time of year :) and plan on a fun ribbed scarf to match, maybe an oversized cowl? We'll see....
I had a bag in my head over the weekend and made the prototype for myself. I'm thrilled with it! It's a large bag (see it in front of me) with a slightly rounded base just like the Willa, but the top is like the Madison bags making the perfect size pattern pocket possible. I'm offering two tonight and one will have the perfect size pattern pocket plus two, and the other will have the same along with three additional pockets on the other side. I couldn't decide so I did the two. Also new and exciting are the handles I'm so excited to finally have... made specifically for the Demi Vintage Bags!!! They continue to be a favorite style and I think these handles are absolutely charming, so much so that I couldn't resist adding them to another bag you'll see tonight. I hope you love them as much as I do!
Wow... it just poured rain! Out of nowhere the sky darkened and we got a downpour! Don't you love the smell of summer rains?
Oh... I'm doing a KAL with some gals on Ravelry (in the Pooling Group) to experiment with planned pooling. I'm going to go for vertical colored lace. It's the best of both worlds really.... being able to see the color change and to have the lovely shades... and because of this, the lace is visible. I have two planned pooling projects going in simple garter, but am anxious to see if I can get this to work in lace. I plan on using the lovely green/hay colored and blue yarn in merino/seacell. More on that later.....
I think that's it... till next week, knit on good woman!
Martha.
