Green Mountain Knitting Bags

August 12

Greetings! My obsession with pooling and patterning continued throughout the week (an understatement). I ordered a couple of yarns to play with. You see a hank (plum, lime and green) of Blue Moon Fiber Arts 'socks that rock heavyweight' that I ordered and am having a great time with. With 42 sts on the needle at a gauge of 4.5 sts per inch, I'm able to get a very pretty plaid. I was a bit discouraged to find a knot... especially since this is a one skein project and therefore no joins, and I've yet to weave it in.... but isn't it pretty? I love it... and knit two inches where the colors were starting to stack so had to take it out and pay more attention to my tension and where the colors were being placed.  I'm doing both of my color play scarves in a simple garter stitch and slip the first stitch of every row knit wise. It's amazing how addictive it is! I also pulled out my Hufflepuff scarf which is pooling and striping in a very whimsical/witchy way... I'm on my second skein so it'll be thick and warm. This I'm doing in the round (tubular) and the fringe on each end will close it. I also ordered a gorgeous skein of hand dyed yarn on Etsy that I plan to do a simple pair of 4 needle mittens for myself. And... look at the lovely Madeline Tosh sock in 'Rhubarb' ... beautiful! Also picked up these wonderful little stitch markers that I love because they're thin, but not too thin... and come with this great holder. But... I do want to picke up my black and green shawl again and my black ribbed sweater~

We've had some muggy days and a good bit of rain but the nights are cooler and we're definitely feeling the days getting shorter. Our wild blackberries are ripe and fall raspberries will be available before too long.

I picked my mom up on Saturday and brought her to a farmer's market and then off to pick blueberries, she's doing well, and the blueberries have been so good that I hope to pick more before they're gone.

That's it for now. I wish you all a great week and much success with your own knitting adventures~  So let's knit on good women!
Martha.
