June 11
Greetings!
Hope all of you are well. I've had a good week, am glad I took some time to knit and ride my bike! These long days are so much fun, and the ride to the upper pond is just perfect. I like to go out around 8:45 when the air is full and moist. The feedback on the straps has been great, thank you for that. Randy, my woodworker asked if I would be interested in 60 or so sets of Curly Red Oak handles. I told him to go ahead and run them and I picked them up last night. They are gorgeous. This is just for a limited time, when they're gone, they're gone. I'll still offer some Cherry along with them, but look forward to some very lovely Oak for the next month or so. Some of the grain flows so incredibly with those little lines, that it reminds me of Van Gogh's 'Starry Night'. He said the Oak must have grown on a windy hillside (yes, here in Vermont) when I asked him why, he said that's how wood becomes 'curly'... as it grows through so much bending in the wind. I love that! I LOVE windy days... so these handles have a special meaning for me.
I had a little time to play this week and made up a pretty case for circular needles. It's a pouch style, front pocket, and a tab flap closure. You'll see them tonight, each is shown holding 12 needles, obviously room for many more. Plenty of room too for your needle gauge.
Paul has this week off and has had lots of fun kayaking and mountain biking... fishing too. He asked if I wanted to go away, but we have our annual week in Maine in July, and I told him I just can't take two weeks off. I love my business!!! So our compromise (not that he had to twist my arm) is a weekend at Alden Camps in Maine.

We leave tomorrow morning and will be home on Sunday. My dad co-managed the camp back in 1957, and after we moved to Vermont, our family went for a week every summer. I remember the excitement of pulling in as a kid..... nothing was better. My sister waited tables there between high school and college, I worked there the summer of 1983, and my sister managed it from 1988 through 1998. So it's like going back home....
Enjoy tonight's listings and knit on good women!
Martha.
