Greetings!
We had a big storm yesterday giving us 8-10 more inches of snow here at the house, the mountains got over 22" so all the skiers are happy! We've yet to get our cross-country skis on, but have been having so much fun on our snowshoes that I'm not sure we miss them. Paul and I were out on Sunday and heard a Pilliated woodpecker. We heard it clearly and moved towards the sound hoping to catch a glance...they're very beautiful, and we ended up laughing so hard because just when we thought we were close...we'd hear it 40 feet off in a completely different direction...so we moved toward that and it just kept happening. Even though we tired to see it in flight...it was like a whisper...and clearly wanted nothing to do with us. The next day we went to the ridge in the late afternoon and saw fresh deer tracks, and the spot where some had just bedded down. Paul saw them 50 feet ahead of us bounding off...so the next day I cut up an old turnip, some loose skinned apples and a few carrots, went to where we has disturbed them, and left the food. My peace offering.
I'm offering two more Addison County Bags tonight...the reviews have been great and I too think it's a great bag. It's by far my most labor intensive. I ordered some new business cards and LOVE them! See the image here in the post card size....
I finished up the second shawl I was working on. The pattern is called Swallowtail, but I changed it a bit as one of the lace sections called for 'NUPPS'...where you work K1,P1,K1,P1,K1 into one stitch, then on the return row you purl 5tog. Ug...no thanks. I loved the rhythmic pattern of the lace above, so just kept going with that until I had the correct number of stitches prior to starting the ending lace pattern. I worked that a bit longer as I wanted to end with the deep raspberry...and I found some really fun lime green beads that I put at each end point. I also whipped up a pair of booties for little Louisa. Pattern comes from the book '50 baby booties to knit' by Zoë Mellor. Instead of ribbon, I knit an I cord out of left over sage green Jitterbug...great colors together!
For all you football fans out there (yes, I love it)...have a great time on Sunday!
Anyone seen the new Vogue Knitting? Lots of great bulky patterns! I rarely knit with bulky yarns, but couldn't resist a sweater coat..pics next week!
Ok good women, take good care of yourselves and knit on!
Martha.
