February 12

Greetings! We've had a heat wave! It hit 50 degrees yesterday and we lost a fair bit of snow and more went today as it rained steadily. But...now it's turning to snow and is getting colder once again. Happy Valentines Day to you all this weekend, it's my husband's birthday, I think snowshoeing is in order! This weekend is also the Great Backyard Bird Count (from the 13th-16th). We've had a lot of birds with us this winter and have especially enjoyed a pair of Cardinals that frequent our crabapple tree.
Participate if you'd like!

I buzzed into Northeast Fiber Arts for a visit (see my pretty drive) always a fun and inspiring visit! Look...she put the felted flowers we did last spring in her boxes! We were all so excited with our day of sun and warm. I whipped up a pair of fingerless mitts from a Ravelry pattern called 'Leafy'. Lots of fun! The yarn came from a local woman who dyes her fiber beautifully...she called this shade of green 'lizard'. Great name, great color...I had to use green and I was thinking of Spring, and well...leaves! I've received sign ups for the swap, but am leaving the info below as there's still another week to join. It'll be a blast!
Enjoy the week everyone...how nice as the days are getting longer as we (good women) knit on!

From last week.....:

Welcome to the first ever (and hopefully not last) Green Mountain Knitter's Spring Swap!

As we regularly meet here from week to week, I thought it would be fun for us all to share in a Green Mountain Spring Swap! I have so many lovely customers who share a love of knitting and thought it would be fun for us to connect in some way….and what better way than yarn! For those of you who have never been involved in a swap…..here’s how it works:

Email me your name and address ( 'Contact Me' can be found on the Home Page) and answer three questions (all in the same email would be greatly appreciated).

1. Your favorite colors.

2. Types of fiber you enjoy working with.

3. Projects you like to knit…like, fingerless mitts? Mittens? Scarves? Hats? Shawls?

I’ll then create swap partners…sending you each others address and project preferences. You’ll have three weeks to put together your package to send out. The price limit is $35.00 - $40.00 and should include yarn, a pattern, a fun knitting related item (or items) like stitch markers…fun notions or anything of your choosing. You might want to add something that’s unique to the state you live in? Really, whatever you’d like…the theme is SPRING, so keep that in mind when putting together your package! Always a beautiful time of year to focus on! Get creative (I know you will) and have fun!

The deadline for sign-ups is February 19th. I’ll get partners out within the week…and all packages must be sent out by March 19...right before the first day of Spring! All packages must include a delivery confirmation number, please email me that number after mailing. That’s it! Oh…I’ll be joining in too! I’ll have a family member pick a name at random! Feel free to send along pictures of your packages, and we’ll show them on the news page!

I look forward to hearing from all you good knitter's as you sign up...and knit on!

Warmly,

Martha.
