August 6
Greetings! It's been another busy week, but it felt like summer finally arrived..... in August. I've had a blast the last few nights riding my bike to the moonlight, hopefully it'll be clear when she's full tomorrow. We have had some lovely warm days that even stayed warm into the evenings. I expect a beautiful August and September. Who knows... they say 50 is the new 40, maybe September is the new August?
When I wasn't sewing this week, it seems I was crocheting! I first learned to crochet from a book when I was 8, then went crazy with it all through high school. Soon after knitting took over, though I did crochet my boys afghans when they were little. I also dabbled in filet crochet which I love, and my mom and mother-in-law each have doilies. But that was 15 or so years ago so to be doing this much crochet has been a blast. The granny squares will be sewn together, and the other very bright colors (Cascade 220 superwash) and 'join as you go'. Of course there was knitting in there too ;) the green shawl continues as well as a pair of cabled mittens.
Welcome to the many who created an account this week! Seems Interweave Knits continues to find its way to many knitters. On Saturday Paul and I are going to the Mozart Festival at Shelburne Farms... the goodies have been purchased (by Paul) so we'll have a really nice picnic and I, of course, will be knitting. Weather looks good too! I picked up another batch of handles.... half Cherry and I'm delighted to introduce Maple to the line up! Maple is a lovely lighter wood, very hard and smooth and of course, locally grown and harvested. Like my sister said, "Maple is such a happy wood."
Last week the Baguette sold right away and I emailed to let her know she 'got it'..... but the email I got back was from a very nice man who logged on and purchased a bag for his wife. He said she'd wanted one for a long time, and it's to be her 49th wedding anniversary gift. So.... what fun! And good wishes to them both~
Look tonight for another fun new style. It came to me today and I had to put it together. I love it and will have to make myself one as soon as time allows (perfect to house all my crocheted squares).
I've ordered 24 more leather shoulder straps so look for them next week. This time I'll be offering black, a lovely deep brown and a pretty deep plum... all gorgeous thick pieces of leather.
So, enjoy tonight's bags.... thanks for stopping by and as always.... knit on good women!
Martha.
