Green Mountain Knitting Bags

Greetings. A good week here in Vermont, but I've been tired having burned that midnight oil too many nights. I'm working on the custom list, trying to get an order out every Friday or Saturday (it's been two bags per order), which, of course comes after my push for Thursday. So, once again it's time to find the balance in it all. Yoga remains great for me and I'm more flexible than I've been in years. Our pond has a new addition of three goslings! I saw them today for the first time...adorable.
And I started a new project, which, like we all know, can be all consuming. I tend to get a bit compulsive about it until the fit and gauge is just right. I started the Herringbone Mittens (you Ravelry gals can find it there). Great pattern! I'm using a Green Mountain Spinnery Yarn that's new for them...a wool and alpaca blend. I love it. It's 3 ply and has nice bounce and you can't see any fluff...but the softness is there. I think it only comes in natural shades. I cast on the cuff 3 or so times until I got the size just right. The 50 sts the pattern called for was way too big for me. This is a great pattern though...one that's hard to put down. I added length too to the cuff...and I'm in the minority who like the 'bump' side of the long tail cast on. So, for my cuff...I cast on, then turn the work and go from there. The join can't be detected...and I get my favorite look.
Big yarn sale near me tomorrow & Saturday...no I don't need more yarn....but yes, I'm going.

Lilacs are almost in bloom in town, still a ways to go up here, but everything is wonderfully green and getting more lush all the time.

Till next week...knit on good women!

Martha.
