March 6,
Greetings! My driveway is still a glacier! What a winter. Sunday my husband and I had a wonderful cross-country ski along the Huntington river. Atually the snow was wet and thick so we took our waxless skis, though I much prefer my old wooden Norwegian. It was too slow for my liking, but the sun came out and the river was beautiful. Before too long many Vermonter's will start to gather sap and the sugar houses will be in full steam (no pun intended). My sister arrives tomorrow from Maine (!!!) and we're taking a 'beading with intentions' class in Burlington. We also hope to snow shoe or cross-country ski and catch up and have fun. There was a big turn out on Tuesday as many of us gathered at the town hall to vote....see our main street's first traffic light (still a touchy subject for many here in Hinesburg). I'm running late as I wanted to get one more Annie's Sock Bag finished for tonight...that makes two. So, if I'm still running behind at 8:30, Allison will put the bags up one at a time as soon as she receives them from me. There will be a total of 10. I did find some time to knit this week (as always) and had a blast turning the heel on a second sock (love turning the heel). Ok...got to run. I can't wait for the weekend. Tonight's Vermont Proverb (as some of us are starting to think of Spring cleaning) 'Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.' Don't forget to turn those clocks ahead...! Yes...light!!! Knit on good women...and don't slip on that ice! Martha.
