July 17
Greetings! The forth of July was great...best fireworks ever! A great small town celebration, great used book sale too at the town hall. Maine was wonderful. The boys did end up getting shifts covered, and even though they weren't with us at the same time (but passed each other en route) we did have time with them both. Great weather, lots of yoga, dock time, raft time, swimming, canoeing, knitting and reading. It's so much fun to get completely lost in a great book...and did I mention knitting?! I brought quite a few things to work on, but worked primarily of the Lady February Sweater. Love the pattern and the yarn. We brought our bikes this year, so had a ball exploring the various dirt roads along the lake. See some pictures of my drive home coming back into Vermont. I found over 40 vintage buttons on my way back, no barkcloth...but was glad to get the buttons. Love Maine, but always sweet to be back home. Also...see my sister's new pony! I've got the Wendy Tote perfected...look for two of them tonight. I made one for myself out of fabric I purchased in Maine...see it here. The difference is I've added another pocket on the inside. So, one side has the usual four fully lined pockets, and the other side has the perfect pattern pocket, just the right size to hold it, but not so big that it flops to the inside. There are also 2 other pockets an either side of that one...seven total. Magnetic closure, decorative vintage button, 23-24" straps...and just the perfect size. My 81 year old mom modeled for me to show the size to scale...thanks mom! Have to run, more to sew before listing time. Ahhh...sweet July! Let's knit on good women! Martha. |
