January 17
Greetings! It's good to be back! Utah was vast and wonderful, but there's no place like Vermont (or home). The boys, all three of them, had the best powder days of their lives!!! Woody had a great birthday and can now legally vote! I had two great days of cross-country skiing, spent lots of time reading and KNITTING and treated myself to a pedicure. Lovely. A roof top hot tub is something I highly recommend as well! But great to get back into the swing of things for sure. We left tons of snow and came back to a lot less. Seems there were days here in the 50's with rain, so much of what we had is gone though we're once again snow covered, and Sunday it'll be freezing...12 degrees!
I managed to catch the one day of sunshine we had for pictures...had to be at the end of the driveway, but well worth it! COLD...but worth it. How nice it is to have the days growing longer.
Been having a blast knitting socks lately. I knit them years ago then stopped. How fun it is again especially with all the amazing sock yarns available now! I know many of you use the two circular method, but I still love my double pointeds.
I have a new bag style that I'm so excited about, so much so that I made one for myself. See pictures....I'm calling it the Madison Slim. Pretty contemporary shape, opens really wide, lots of room, and the handles can fold over. Three fully lined interior pockets...it's great, and three of them will be offered tonight.
New pictures of recent custom bags can be seen on the Hall of Fame Page.
I finished up a pair of 'Two Hour Mittens' The kit came from...you guessed it, my favorite local yarn shop (Northeast Fiber Arts) and is 3 strands knit together. One mohair, one boucle and a sport silk-wool-cotton blend. Really fun, really warm...and great stretch!
Wonderful playoff games for football fans (yes, I am one). A dear customer sent me a great gift! Once I get it set up I'll take pictures and show you all next week. Until then, all I can say is..."Go Packers!!!"
Tonight's Vermont proverb:
Those who make no mistakes seldom do anything at all.
Till next time... stay warm, stay healthy and knit on good women!
Martha.
