August 7,
Greetings All! And a happy birthday to my sister who turned 54 on August 4th!!! What a crazy summer...sun, then rain, more sun...but then much more rain. Even today when the sun popped out it was raining! Honestly, we're all quite tired of it, of everything being perpetually damp....and the forecast shows no improvement. Makes for great gardens though! Lots of fresh corn and tomatoes...I hope to pick the second round of raspberries due in a week or so. I'm excited to watch the Olympics...though I like the winter Olympics better, the next 16 days should be fun! Started another February Lady Sweater, such a great pattern! I like stitch markers that don't hang...just the ring type. The ones I use are old time plastic, but tend to be too big. I found this seller on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=67635 Spindle Cat Studio. I ordered two sets of her sterling silver stitch markers and they arrived yesterday! I love them! Just the right size...she offers them in copper too! Very nicely packaged...well worth a trip to her shop! Woody picked up his lathe yesterday and set it up on the porch of his apartment. He's planning on making the Noste again...so all of you who have wanted one should stay tuned! I received an email from a spinner/knitter in Australia who has a hard time finding them. She has seen some offered here in the states, but find them a bit too 'varnished'...she saw Woody's and loved them, of course I agreed! All unique, beautiful woods...and simply oiled. Can't wait! I thought it would be fun to come up with (and make) a felted Lil' Yarn Sack! My first is bigger than I had thought, but I love it. The second one is on the needles...perhaps a pattern in the making??! Love felting...fun and exciting, and a wonderful finished product. As a fiber, wool continues to amaze me. Ok, lots to type...off I go.... Knit on good women, and enjoy all the garden harvest! Martha. |
