Green Mountain Knitting Bags

April 3

Greetings! We've had a lovely week here in Vermont, the were a bit high, but the sun has been lovely. Tomorrow brings a mix of rain & snow, but we hope for more snow to go. My husband and older son hope to get to the mountain one last time on Saturday...while I'll be at my first baby shower in over 20 years! The second bootie is almost done, then I hope to knit like crazy and have a total of 3 pair to give her. Last Saturday I went to this at Northeast Fiber Arts:

Saturday, March 29th 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.

If you knit, you must come see this! Dorian McGowan, former professor at Lyndon State College, creates amazing sculptures integrating knitting (not always with yarn!) with scrap metal, wood, sticks...whatever interesting things he finds. On Saturday afternoon, March 29th, he will be here displaying his latest knitted creations, Gifts to Ganymede. From spectacular masks to 3 ft tall puppets and marionettes, Dorian's creations are always fun and imaginative and will get you thinking about knitting "outside the box". Refreshments served.

He was delightful and took such joy in his creations. I was happy to have seen them

A few years back I took banjo lessons from a talented woman who also made the best soap ever. I just heard from her and she has a new website so her soap is available to all! I highly recommend it. If you've never used good homemade soap before, do it. The scents are wonderful, the lather is great and it lasts a good long time. See her soaps here:

I'm thinking of taking lessons from her again. I haven't been playing as much as I'd like and lessons are such a great way to focus and progress.
Last weekend was the state wide open house for participating sugar houses, but it was 23 degrees! Just too cold....it's way more fun in 40 degrees and mud. But, I did stop in and see my neighbor Tom Boivin...he's just a half mile up the road and is having a great year boiling so far. He said..."the buds are still shut tight". He gave me a sample, hot! Nothing like it. If you're interested in some of Vermont's finest, give him a call at:
802-482-2662. Either Tom or Diane will answer and take the order and try and determine shipping costs, they're good people.
Prices:

Boivin's Mountain Pure Maple Syrup

Half-Gallon: $23.00
Quart: $15.00
Pint or Maple Leaf: $10.00
Maple Leaf Wedding Favors: $2.50 per

I took a drive to Vergennes yesterday as I was out of handles and Randy set me up to get me by as he finishes my next order. Nice to take the drive, but missed good sewing time ....see how much more Spring-like it looks! Of course our yard is still snow covered...good grief. Yoga continues to be wonderful, I can't imagine a better instructor or group of women to be with.

Ok good women, be good to yourselves and knit on!

Martha.
