Rabbit. Rabbit....and Happy Halloween!
A magical interval when the mundane laws of time and space are temporarily suspended, and the thin veil between the worlds is lifted, allowing the spirits of the departed to travel the world again on their way to the Summerlands. Communicating with ancestors and departed loved ones is considered easier at this time than any other....
Even though my boys weren't home, I enjoyed carving the pumpkins and making sure one was one the front rock, as there has been since they were little. I bought the candy for our usual 2 trick-or-treaters (actually we had 3) but became quite melancholy, reflecting on all the past Halloween's and all the fun we had. Still, being out side, running to keep the front jack-O-lantern lit, was wonderful. That 'feeling' was in the air....
Honestly, I had a rough week and though only offering six bags tonight (and one case) I'm pleased I was able to achieve that. But looking at them now, I'm so pleased with each one. On Sunday Paul and I took a drive (finally) to get apples and pumpkins. We've been going to the same spot for years. Just a few other folks were there too as it was pouring and the tress were pretty much picked clean....or so we were told! The two of us each filled a big bag, and chose 4 pumpkins. It'll be his last season there as they're moving a few miles down the road. Bittersweet for us all. Late tonight, got to run. Let's stay positive & knit on!
