May 10
Greetings! High 80's today! It was a long time coming...The buds are popping open, the geese are louder than ever, and the peepers lull us to sleep. Life is good here in Vermont.
Lots of green bags full of trash were dotting the sides of the roads prior to pick up, as Green Up Day was yet again another big success. This weekend is our annual town yard sale day held at the fire station, and a early Happy Mother's Day to all. Woody had a great time on his trip, as did my husband (though he did flip the kayak and lose his glasses) he came home relaxed and full of a new adventure. I had a fantastic time with my sister, oh we buzzed all over the place. Saturday was spent 'downtown' and Sunday we drove to Middlebury and visited the UVM Morgan Horse Farm where she did a year long apprenticeship back in 1982. It's a beautiful area of Vermont and I enjoyed the tour she gave me, and we both loved seeing the new little foals. So nice to have uninterrupted time with her.
I started reading Harry Potter years after everyone, but love it. With book 7 coming in July, I picked up the 5th book on cd and have been listening to it as I sew...makes time fly! I'll read the 6th on the dock in Maine the end of June.
Sweater was untouched, but a new pair of mittens was started. I've decided my favorite yarn for mittens is now sock yard...double stranded. Nice small stitches, the warmth of wool, strength of nylon, soft and flexible. Just right. Knitting them on bamboo double pointed needles.
Best get busy...enjoy the week and knit on!
Till next time,
Martha.
