February 1

Rabbit Rabbit.

So I'm in my usual Thursday frenzy, having just finished stitching the last handle on this weeks barkcloth bag, when I (lost in thought) excitedly put my sewing needle back in the pin cushion...only it was up side down and I rammed the sharp point into my fingertip. My arm went flying, along with the needle. That kind of describes my week. I did manage to find it, in no way due to my studio floor being clean...just determination, as it's my one favorite needles.
I received a call from my friend Nancy who runs 'Virtually Vintage', a great antique shop not far from here. She always lets me know if vintage buttons or barkcloth find their way to her. She called mid week about a piece of fabric that (over the phone) sounded just like barkcloth. She held it for me until I could get there. Ever the optimist, I thought it would be stellar. But it wasn't even barkcloth. I did, however, find an antique Belgium tapestry. I've wanted to work with one for quite sometime, but rarely see them. A bit more than I wanted to spend...but I just had to play. She dated it well over 100 years old and it was glorious to work with. That's when you really take a deep breath before cutting! You'll see it along with this weeks listings.
Ping pong continues, as does the freezing cold, though we had a bit of a break today. Cold you say? Take a look at my husband's beard after a cross country ski on our land.
I need to get 3 bags set and sent out by Monday, and will have to have some late nights as my son has a track meet on Saturday and Sunday is....as some of you know...Super Bowl Sunday! So we'll be with friends (at least for the first half).
Working on some mittens I plan on felting. I've done felted bags and one felted hat, but never mittens.
Say tuned for the before and after pictures...hopefully by next week.

Till next time,
Martha.
