August 24

Greetings,

Hope all had a good week. Cool weather here, cool enough for extra blankets at night. Look at the steam rise from our umbrella once the sun rose. Had a nice river swim...didn't do enough of that this summer, still time to make up for it though! A yarn shop in Shelburne had a going out of business sale, so I went. Really didn't need more yarn, but the sale was a good one. The woman who has had the shop for five years, is someone I used to work for in my 20's (a long time ago). I learned a great deal from her. Her mother, who is ill, ran the textile department at UVM for many years. She too is an amazing knitter, and up until a year ago, knit herself two suits a year. Can you imagine??? So, waiting for just the right project are 4 skeins of Frog Tree alpaca, and 2 skeins of On Line sock yarn (two be knit double into mittens for a friend).
While working on a scarf this week, the ball was getting to the end and starting to tangle. I unwound-untangled it, and used my nostepinne to -re-wrap it...a nice smooth transition to the end. Woody didn't get to making more this week (but look next week).....he did, however, make a humdinger pot of chili for dinner.
He and my husband has a wonderful kayak trip on the lake for an overnight...I stayed up late knitting and watching movies. A few nights ago Woody and I had sushi in Burlington on the 'marketplace' a lovely evening...
Well it looks like our little town is getting ready for its first traffic light. Hmmm...

Lots still to type...gotta run.

Let's make it a good week & knit on good women!!!

Martha.
