July 29

Greetings! We've had a beautiful few days here with blue skies, nice winds and no humidity. Perfect. I stopped in at the farmer's market over the weekend but the salve wasn't quite ready, she said for sure this weekend..... Tuesday evening we met with old friends we hadn't seen in awhile and had a great dinner in their 'tea house' which is set in a field 200 or so yards behind their house. We had salads, grilled fish, fresh corn and lemon cake..... it was delightful and as we were leaving, the moon was rising... beautiful.

I've been working steadily on my black and green 3/4 Hap Shawl and my hooded pullover in the Cascade 128 bulky. I really love this yarn and have ordered 2 more skeins to do a matching cowl and a pair of cabled mittens. I started one of the sleeves on.. are you ready? Nine inch circulars! I love my double pointed needles but realize that I don't enjoy them when it comes to bulky weight yarn... and sleeves. They're perfect for socks and mittens, but.... larger sizes, not so much. I wasn't sure about the 9" circs but had to give them a try... if nothing else I had to satisfy my curiosity! I love them! It's a hoot, really, trying to hold on to the little tips, and I found purling to be the challenge, but for the most part they were fun and before I knew it I was able to switch to the 12".

I became a little antsy yesterday and shut my room down, jumped in the car and drove to see Betsy at Northeast Fiber Arts (aren't I lucky to have my favorite yarn shop minutes from my house!) and even though I wasn't planning on buying anything, I did. I loved doing the join as you go afghan (remember that one?) so much that I decided (then and there) to do another. I'll be using Noro Silk Garden and Lamb's Pride worsted. Should be fun, of course I had to dive right in.... and I couldn't' resist stopping to pick a quart of blueberries on the way home... delicious. Saw 2 baby calves too.... and gave one some good head scratches....

Another custom order went out, more following right behind and I did a donation bag for the Savvy Girls Podcast http://www.savvygirls.ca/
those gals are a hoot!

Look for a new category tonight, 'Colored Handled Bags' I though it would make for easier shopping.... and look for a new handle shape as well. Like the Willa, but a bit sleeker.... for the Demi Vintage Styles....!

We have little tomatoes in the works :) Can't wait for those to be ready..... the earth is certainly full! What a special time of year this is....
Till next week, stay well good women... and knit on!

Martha.
