These elegant wooden tools are a joy in their simplicity. Originally from Norway, they are used to wind a hank into a center pull skein. Unlike a handcranked mechanical ballwinder, a nostepinne is virtually unbreakable & portable. The more you use it, the better you'll become. Winding is a breeze, and fun, as you 'get to know' your yarn. Once wrapped, the center pull skeins hold together beautifully. While knitting the other day, a store bought skein was getting towards the end and was starting to unravel. I untangled it and re-wrapped it with my nostepinne, this way I breezed to the end of the skein tangle free. These are made by my son Woody, are a lovely addition to any knitting bag, and will be offered in a variety of woods. Each is unique, as he doesn't use a pattern but rather listens to both himself and the wood. A quote from one of my regular customers who read that nostipinner would be available here:
BTW, I LOVE nostepinnes, I've used one for years and it's a pleasure to make center pull balls w/o those clumsy plastic winders.
