It’s been a very long time since I slept under the stars, but we did on July 4th and here was our gorgeous view! We watched the fireworks of as many towns as we could and that was quite a few …. It really is true that as soon as the 4th is over, the summer really starts to fly by. The gardens are full and it’s a good thing we both enjoy weeding. We’ve got lots of herbs, zucchini, chard, cucumbers and tomatoes. The squash are coming along too as is the eggplant… that’s right, so far just one, and we’re...

Well July is starting out hot! Geez we’re in a heat wave for the week, and today is the hottest. We escaped over the weekend to the Adirondacks for a swim and yesterday swam in a sweet little lake here in Vermont. As much as I don’t love this heat… the gardens sure do and yesterday’s harvest shows just that! It’s so rewarding to head to the garden and pick our dinner. I sautéed the onion with garlic, added the asparagus and zucchini, some fresh parsley, basil and thyme…. then some chicken stock, graded...

Between just being plain old busy and internet issues, it’s been a bit now since I’ve posted. Life is good, the leaves are full and the gardens are coming along. We have a variety of vegetables and flowers and even though it’s been cool, save a few things that didn’t come up, all are doing well. Saturday was World Wide Knit in Public Day and I met up with Betsy in Shelburne at Must Love Yarn. We sat outside, ate, knit and chatted and as always, it was a great time. So many of us now either have or are expecting...

It was another good and busy week. I enjoyed making and listing the Walking Bags again as it’s a new style as of last summer and with the weather finally warming here, I’ve been using mine again. How beautiful the green!!! As suspected, thoughts of my mom have been gently floating by…. I find I hear her words of wisdom throughout the day…  I’ve started in on the flower pots….. more to go, for sure 😉 The seeds were started and they’re up! We went to the farm yesterday and loaded up with compost and spread it over the garden beds….....

Our time in NH was great. Jeffrey worked and I played 😀 I knit a lot, enjoyed the low prices in the local thrift shops and enjoyed the beautiful river… and the fun dining out. His sweater is coming along nicely and I look forward to knit group tomorrow! We’ve not met in a few weeks and we all miss it….     Spring sure is slow coming. The temperatures are still cool and we’ve had lots of rain. This week though, Wednesday, the temps are summertime temps! Oh sure… we’ll see 😉 Yesterday I started the...

Spring really is taking its time this year as yet another storm has come in bringing lots of freezing rain and ice accumulation… gray gray with more gray on top.   The Antonio sweater is coming along nicely. I’m using old (as in not made in China) Cascade Lana D’Oro, 50 wool and 50 alpaca. The sleeves are on holders as of yesterday and now I’m just knitting down for the body. The yarn is really nice to work with and I’m pleased with the texture and gauge.   I’ve been having so much fun with the...

The temperatures have been so cold, just around 20 this morning but a sunny day ahead. We did get a couple inches of snow the other day too. I have a friend who was raking the snow in her yard just to speed up the melting process 😀 we’re sure ready for Spring!   Over the weekend I was inspired to crochet a dish cloth, then couldn’t resist making another with the colors reversed! The pattern calls for a worsted weight cotton but I picked from my stash and found this pretty sport weight called Mandarin petit from SandesGarn....

It doesn’t take long to go from the above to…. That said it continues to be cool, even some snow is forecasted….. but it feels natural now to have the later light and the dark afternoons of winter are fading away. I hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend and how nice it is to welcome in April! We saw the young folks yesterday and enjoyed a laid back afternoon with knitting and eggplant parmesan for dinner. I met a friend for coffee this morning, came home and have been happily busy in the kitchen with wash on the line....

It sure doesn’t feel much like spring, even though the Spring Equinox is tomorrow… we’re in a deep freeze here with temps hovering just above ‘O’ at night. Gorgeous sun though, and the cold is never that bad this time of year as we know it’s fleeting with April soon approaching. Weather permitting the sugaring isn’t done…. The move is complete and I’m settling right in so look for items on Thursday. I’ve purged a lot which feels great, fabric and yarn too, imagine that… and have some pretty new fabric to...

The sewing machine is on the table! The move continues to come together well. I’ve got new fabric to organize so look for new bags a week from tonight. It’s been a lot of work and it’s not all ‘settled’ … but ah can one be settled in the unsettled? We’re fresh out of a Nor’easter and combine it with mud season and well, the fun begins 😉 One of the last things I packed? A dpn that was rolling on the floor, knitters XO Back next week… we’ve got another cold snap...
