About the Bags/Site:
I'm in my sixth year of business and am loving it more now than when I began. I'm still making the bags by myself here in Vermont and each bag continues to be lovingly crafted one at a time. See the links below to learn more about specific aspects of the bags....
New bags are uploaded to the Bags For Sale Page every Thursday evening at 8:30 EST, I shoot for ten bags a week. A few minutes prior to that, the slate is wiped clean and the new bags a
ppear at 8:30. The fabrics will vary from week to week, though you'll see some fabrics appear more than once, they do change often. Even if I use the same fabric more than once, no two bags are ever the same. Fabric selections vary from vintage florals, to wild geometrics...from drapery weight to chenille upholstry. The selection of different styles will vary as well, depending on what I've done throughout the week. I often offer bags with arm/shoulder straps knowing that some of you like them. If you're hoping for a certain style, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do. If you're new, you'll want to go to the Bags For Sale Page and create an account, then read the shopping cart information on that same page. I accept paypal payments, as well as personal checks and money orders. So enjoy dropping in and seeing what's offered from week to week... Look on the Create Your Bag Page for specific bag details and to see the current status of my Custom Bag Order List. I hope to open it again soon. Many thanks...Martha.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions, and a few facts:
The bag that holds the most is the Madison Sweater Bag. Next would be a tie between the Oversized Carpet Bag & the Fat Baguette followed closely by the Madison Slim. After that...the Large Carpet Bag would equal the Snow Pond Bag & Vintage Style Bag. Next tie would be between the Tall Baguette and the Medium Carpet Bags. Then to the Demi. Hybrids vary is size, but due to their generous base, they can often hold more than some listed above.
All bags stand on their own with supplies inside (and sometimes without, depending on the fabric) except the Vintage Style Bag & the Demi...though they can due to the generous side openings.
The bags that open the widest are all Madison style bags. The Carpet Bags don't open as wide due to the angle of the sides, nor do the handles flip open as easily, but the work nestles down in the bag more...you choose. All other styles open nice and wide.
All bags have generous side openings making your work easily accessible.
The magnetic closures I use have a pretty, matte finish, and it's the closure that personally, I prefer.
All bags have four fully lined interior pockets, except the Fat Baguette...though lataly I've been adding pockets to it. Oh...the Micro Carpet Bag has three.
I personally have a Large and Small Carpet Bag, a Snow Pond Bag...a Madison Slim and my new favorite...my Madison Sweater Bag.
The 'hard to find and always treasured' vintage Barkcloth is not available for custom orders.
You may lightly steam press your bag if need be. To be on the safe side, use a cloth over the fabric.
A gal in California who has quite a few of my bags, sprays them with Scotch Guard before use. I've never used it, but she says it's great!
You may send your own fabric for me to use for a custom order, but the price of the order remains the same.
